I just found out about your series from your mention of it at a group chat at work, and I'm on board! I fully embrace your "big scary goals" approach and I've recently come to a similar conclusion, which made reading this post more like seeing my own thoughts written down than reading someone else's. Best of luck to you and I'll be following along closely!

Sam, I really appreciate the note! Sorry for the long delay here. Would love to hear what you're working on, and if you're doing any writing of your own I can absorb. Of course a fellow Sam would feel like he's reading his own writing.

Cheers from the Club,

Sam

I would like to hitch a ride on the back of the pace car for your 100-mile mathematical odyssey. Is that possible? I would like to acquire an intuition of our best models of reality, without caring to acquire the skills necessary to do the maths.

Yes! I bet you can get pretty far. I guess the goal is to provide enough hooks for learning that if any math does show up, it's there as a shorthand for eminently visualizable ideas. This video series was mindblowing for me, as an example: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLZHQObOWTQDPD3MizzM2xVFitgF8hE_ab linear algebra as beautiful, visualizable transformations of planes. Now I see a matrix and think about blobs and shapes stretching and rotating, and don't even notice the numbers. That's what we want!
